Its origins date back thousands of years, but the blade as we know it today is believed to have first been crafted in the 14th century in the kingdom of Majapahit, East Java. With its wave-like curved blade, the Moro Kris is one of the most distinctive blades in history. In this episode, the bladesmiths must forge the Moro Kris, a weapon used so effectively by Filipino fighters in the Philippine–American War that it led directly to the invention of the Colt 1911 pistol-one of the most famous firearms in the world. It was also used differently, with more of a thrusting motion than a slashing motion. The traditional rapier blade is longer (some over 40 inches in length), lighter (typically weighing between 2 and 3 lbs) and much narrower (typically ¾ inches) than its medieval predecessors. The word “rapier” is believed to come from the Spanish term “espada ropera” or “sword of the robes.” It was meant to be worn with civilian clothing, and not armor. This led to an opening in the market for a lighter, faster sword, and the Rapier stepped in to fill it. As suits of armor declined in popularity, the need for heavy, armor-piercing weapons also declined. ![]() These new guns made heavy suits of armor-like those worn by knights-less effective and a cumbersome liability. It was designed to be used with brute force rather than precision. They could be wielded from horseback or in hand-to-hand combat and with one or two hands. Most examples of this type of weapon (depending on the century) had blades typically 28-31 inches in length, with handles that eventually measured around 6 inches as the weapon evolved through the years. Its reputation as a weapon of choice for kings, and the toughest knights and noblemen alike, has also made it one of the more romanticized weapons in history. Watch now.ĭeveloped during High Middle Ages (from 1000 to 1300 A.D.), the Arming Sword, also known as the Knightly Sword and the Crusader Sword among other names, is the most classic of sword styles. The remaining two bladesmiths head home with just five days to forge the legendary Crusader Sword. The forge heats up as our four bladesmiths struggle create a special Japanese hardening technique on their signature blades. ![]()

Absolutely. And the result of that forfeiture of rewards is going to be real loss, and eternal regret. While it's true that every genuine believer in Christ is going to cross the finish line and be welcomed into heaven, the fact is, some Christians are going to be surprised when their works are disqualified by the judge, and they end up forfeiting rewards. Yet, many Christians fail to understand a similar truth. A good basketball player knows that even more important than making the goal, the basket, is making sure you're aiming toward the right basket. The novice skier said, "Well, what's the bad news"? My message is titled "Rewards in Heaven" on today's edition of Pathway to Victory. And today I'm going to explain what we should be doing right now to receive rewards in the next life. In fact, the Bible describes a type of judgment during which every Christian will be evaluated and hopefully rewarded for his or her good works on earth. Well, you might be surprised to learn that is not true. Many Christians assume that when we die, heaven will be exactly the same for every believer. Hi, I'm Robert Jeffress, and welcome again to Pathway to Victory. ![]() ![]() I firmly believe that you are the most important cause of change in your life. I don’t accept all my hardships and just trust that any power or being can make things rights. I don’t follow the prayer as a life philosophy. That piece of paper bookmarks not only the start of a really bad period in my life, but also a very early sign of how I would pull out of that period – a process that took about four years. I would have told you then that those events were not the reason that I had crashed into a deep depression, but looking back today, that bookmark reminds me how distorted my perceptions were then. That folded copy of the serenity prayer takes me back to an early winter that was difficult for many people following the events of September 11, 2001. I guess we are more likely to intentionally bookmark the good times in our lives, but I think we also mark the bad times, perhaps unintentionally. I could create a long list of things that bring me back in a flash to a time in my life – books, ticket stubs, a pebble, a record album, a restaurant receipt, airline ticket, vacation souvenirs… I don’t know if you literally bookmark things in your life with paper in a book very often, but we all certainly set bookmarks in our life using objects. ![]() I came across a copy of the prayer today on a sheet of paper folded into one of my old journals from late 2001. Every once and awhile, it crosses into my life. I’m not concerned about whether or not Reinhold Niebuhr wrote the prayer, and I like that the prayer has been adopted and adapted by others. It was on an episode of King of the Hill when the school principal asks Hank “Are you familiar with the serenity prayer Hank? Cause this is one of those things I can’t change.” It was in an interesting film, Rachel Getting Married. I recall it being in Vonnegut’s Slaughterhouse-Five. It was adopted by Alcoholics Anonymous and other twelve-step programs. for better or worse, and it is often seen in a shortened form illustrated above. You can find it printed on plaques, mugs etc. It begins “God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change.” It seems to transcend religions and has entered popular culture. Have you heard of the Serenity Prayer? Many people credit Reinhold Niebuhr with writing it sometime during World War II. ![]() ![]() G + P + V = Purpose… on Your Best Day, Worst Day and F… Join 1,095 other subscribers Recent PostsĬlassics Illustrated… on Our Love-Hate Relationship wit… ![]() ![]() So this map is pretty unique like i said, and that's a good thing, but it needs to be polished a lot. I needed to savescum a lot here cause RNG was a big factor, can't really singlesegment a map like that, too random. I found miself killing 2 cyberdemons with a rl a shotgun and a chaingun cause i found the plasma only in the end (i was running away all the time because of random shit and cramped spaces). The one that i hate is platforming, the one that i love is a starting situation in which i need to think about what to do. Let's start by saying that it has 2 features, one that i hate and one that i love. Map 8 was really cool and evocative because of the arcade :) i really enjoyed if not for just 2 things:ġ) the progression, it was rather "criptic" meaning that i was just randomly running and wandering searching for remote switchesĢ) the triple archie trap, that is kinda merciless cause i was singlesegmenting and i could really expect 3 of them together, when i saw the teleporter platform i thought it was a way out, but it wasnt a teleporter at all so i got killed Always remember to lower unpeg doortracks. Also don't forget the exit sign, i was single segmenting and i stumbled into the exit without wanting it (this happened just on this map cause the other one had either the exit door or a sign). Map 1 is a nice introduction, i liked it for the most part (i loved the dos computer switch), i didn't enjoy the teleporters that were a bit confusing.
